Welcome

It gives me great joy to welcome you to this website. The 6th International Workshop on Higher Education Reforms, to be held in Mexico City November 9-11 2009, will offer its participants a vibrant academic experience, not only for the workshop's central theme –"The State and the Market in Higher Education"– but also for the quality of its contributions. In that sense, we will try to follow the example set by previous workshops in Vancouver, Vienna, Dublin, and Shanghai, which were all characterized by the high caliber of their participants and presentations.

The International Workshop will promote debate and the interchange of research experiences, while at the same time providing a space to create and broaden the professional networks we have begun to develop across the globe. One goal in which we are particularly interested is establishing new links with our Latin American colleagues.

I invite all of you to get to know our proposal for this workshop by browsing the website. Please also submit paper proposals, which will be judged by expert colleagues. If you have any suggestions on improving the website or the organization of the workshop, we will be glad to hear from you.

The Center for Research and Advanced Studies, under the auspices of the Department of Education Researchers, promises to make every attempt to ensure you a warm stay. We will do our best to make you feel, as we say here in Mexico, en su propia casa.
